An observer on Earth will see a conjunction of the Sun, Venus and Mercury; one of the moon, Mars and Pluto; one of Uranus and Neptune, and one of Jupiter and Saturn, each conjunction separated by roughly 90 degrees along the plane of the Ecliptic. Hence the term Grand Cross, where the Earth is at the center of the cross.
